Trump Administration States No Plans for ICE Deployment at Polling Places

Shreveport Texarkana, LA, October 2, 2026 — The Trump administration has publicly stated that it does not intend to deploy Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to polling places during the upcoming early voting period or on Election Day. This announcement comes amid expressed concerns from some voters and ongoing preparations by various activist groups.

The specific details regarding the extent of voter concerns or the nature of activist preparations were not provided in the statement. Similarly, the administration’s announcement did not include information about any specific officials making the declaration or the exact timeline for when this decision was finalized.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is a federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security, responsible for enforcing immigration and customs laws. The potential deployment of federal agents, particularly those involved in immigration enforcement, to sensitive locations like polling sites has been a subject of discussion and apprehension for some segments of the electorate.

Activists have reportedly been preparing for various scenarios related to election integrity and voter access. The administration’s assurance that ICE officers will not be present at polling locations aims to address potential anxieties surrounding federal law enforcement presence during the voting process. The administration’s statement was made without further elaboration on the reasons behind the decision or any specific policies that would govern such deployments in the future.
